Brett V. Curtis, MD, JD
Medical Director

Dr. Curtis comes from Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Curtis was encouraged from childhood to strive to achieve greater accomplishments. During one period of his life, he seriously considered a career in public service, as a politician. His political ambitions were set aside when he found his calling as a military reservist. The field medical training inspired Dr. Curtis to become a doctor. He attended medical school and trained in general surgery at UCLA. Thereafter, he attended law school at UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. He did this not only to gain a broader educational experience, but to also marry two disciplines for the benefit of patients and clients. something he feels he is able to do at the Urgent Care Center of Alameda. Furthermore, Dr. Curtis has more than ten years of experience in Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine, which he gained while serving as the medical director at Medical Center of Marin.

Sonia Shefayee PA, MPH
Executive Director

Ms. Shefayee comes from Kabul, Afghanistan. She was six years old when she and her family left Afghanistan for a better life in the United States. She was always inspired by leaders who made a difference in their communities and by extension affected the greater society. She was involved in numerous community outreach projects with a specific passion for helping the underserved. Ms. Shefayee attended UC Santa Cruz and majored in Biology and Community Studies. Then she obtained a Master in Public Health degree from UCLA. She continued her education, completing the Primary Care Associate Program at Stanford University. Since becoming a physician assistant, Ms. Shefayee has specialized in urgent care and occupational health services. In addition to urgent care and occupational health, Ms. Shefayee also specializes in cosmetic enhancements of the skin. Some of the procedures offered include Botox, Dysport and fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane .

Having lived and establishing roots in the city of Alameda for the past 30 years, she is very happy to be able to give back to her community.

Rosemarie Sabado, FNP-BC
Healthcare Provider

Rosemarie Sabado is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who began her nursing career in Oncology.  She received her Bachelors degree of Science in Nursing from University Central Florida and graduated with a Masters of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner from University of Cincinnati.  While working as an RN she became extremely passionate about preventive care and patient education, which encouraged her to further her education.Rosemarie specializes in Internal Medicine, Women’s Health & Urgent Care.  She has a special interest and is knowledgeable in geriatric medicine, metabolic disorders, such as diabetes, thyroid disorders and obesity.  Rosemarie believes in treating patients with compassion, respect and empowering them to make healthy& knowledgeable decision to support treatment options and a healthy lifestyle.  In her spare time Rosemarie enjoys spending time with her family and pups, considers herself a “foodie” and enjoys eating out at her favorite Alameda restaurants.  Rosemarie also spends time in Florida visiting her daughter and grandchildren.

Jessica Wirth,PA-C, MHS
Physician Assistant

Jessica graduated from the Drexel University Physician Assistant program in Philadelphia, PA. She holds an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science: Allied Health from the University of Tampa, FL. She is a board member at Camping Unlimited, a program providing services to children and adults with developmental disabilities. She has a special interest in autism awareness, research, and advocacy. In her free time, Jessica volunteers with the Dominican University Athletics Department and is passionate about basketball. She is excited to be a part of the team at Urgent Care of Alameda.

Aklil Rostai, PA-C, MPAS
Physician Assistant

Aklil earned his Masters of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Pacific University School of Medicine in Hillsboro, Oregon. He trained in many areas of general medicine including primary care, internal medicine, orthopedic and Emergency medicine. He is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is licensed by the State of California, Physician Assistant Committee. Aklil completed his undergraduate education at San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Psychology. He enjoys Family Medicine because of the wide range of patients with different health problems and issues—some chronic, some acute. Aklil feels especially satisfied to work with patients on wellness and preventive measures to help them achieve a new level of healthy living. To help balance his life he enjoys spending time with family, playing Soccer, Basketball, and traveling.
